How much does a house cost?
It depends on the size, the location, the amenities, right?
A custom web site is essentially the same concept. It can be as small or large as your budget allows. It can start out small and build out over time.
As a general rule of thumb, you can plan on $250 for the home page, and approximately $100-$150 for each additional page. Hosting runs $300 per year, which includes 15 minutes per month of maintenance.
Many web designers don't understand (or bother with) search engines, which, honestly, can (and should be) the primary way to generate leads! Some web designers offer 'search engine optimization' as an option. Alll of my sites are designed to be 'search engine friendly' - at no extra cost. Otherwise it's like buying a car with the engine optional. It doesn't make sense to me.
That will give you a rough ballpark figure. Actual mileage may vary!
A recommended size for a decent real estate website is approximately 20-30 pages. A home page, a contact page/ form, a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) page, several town/ city pages, MLS search, and a dozen or so informational pages on subjects such as home inspections, radon, lead paint, mold and mildew, buyer tips, seller tips, home staging, etc.
I recommend a gradual program. Start off with a 20-30 page site. For a small monthly fee of $200-$500/mo, we will add content pages every month, incorporate a branded e-mail newsletter to your mailing list, highlighting real estate news and your new listings, complete with photos and links, a program of obtaining backlinks from other sites (very important for high search engine ranking).
This way you don't have to bother (we do all the work!). But more importantly, you are building out your site over time. Adding 3 pages per month will add 36 pages in one year! If you have a 56 page website, you have 56 potentially 'entry' points where customers can find your site in a search engine. If you have only 5 pages - you have 5 entry points. Additionally, Google looks at how 'relevant' your site is based on how often new content is added. By methodically adding new pages every month, you accomplish several major goals in your marketing strategy.
